Join us for a Sugar Flower Cake Shop tasting, and you'll quickly learn that fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients make our wedding cakes taste different. They are astoundingly fresh, and as such, they capture ripeness at its absolute peak. No wonder.

We use organic cream and milk from Milk Thistle Dairy (Ghent, NY). Thickened biodynamically, the fresh cream imparts a crazy richness to our chocolate ganache.  We use honey cultivated from NYC rooftop apiaries, and collected by Berkshire Berries (Becket, MA).

We use summertime strawberries from Berried Treasures (Cooks Falls, NY). These juice-red berries contain no cardboard-like white center. Nor have they ever seen the inside of a supermarket: they come straight from the farm to our doorstep. Ever wonder why they're called strawberries? The farmers lay down fresh beds of straw...to catch the berries when they fall.

We buy our chocolate and sugar from companies that use organic principles to grow their ingredients, and fair trade principles to pay their workers.

Within the seasons, you're limited to your imagination—and your sense of culinary adventure. We do buttercreams and creams (creamier), mousselines and curds (lighter), and whole fruit fillings.  Some examples:

  • Raspberries and strawberries (late spring to summer)
  • Cherries, peaches and plums (summer)
  • Apples, pears, ginger, and pomegranate (fall)
  • Orange, lemon, and lime (varies; fall to late spring)
  • Carrot, pumpkin or chestnut (fall to winter)
  • Mangoes and passion fruit (winter)
  • Brown sugar, hazelnut, and praline (year-round) 
  • Chocolate: all shades, all levels of happiness (year-round)

We also make cakes in a confetti of flavors. Here are just some to whet your palate:

  • Studded almond, topped with cinnamon chai buttercream.
  • Bright white cake, slathered with  NYC rooftop honey buttercream.
  • Natural velvet, sweetened with red beet and poured to the brim with mascarpone cream cheese icing. 
  • Rich chocolate, topped with sea salted caramel buttercream.

One other thing: We do gluten-free or low-glycemic cakes, and cakes sweetened with local NYC honey.

And of course, any of the above can be topped with our gorgeous sugar flowers.
